Kylie is a Clinical Psychologist with twenty years’ experience in a regional public hospital setting.
Kylie’s clinical work with people living with both mental and physical illnesses, highlighted the importance of working collaboratively with people. Kylie pursued training in motivational interviewing as an engaging way to support and promote health behaviour change.
Since becoming a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers in 2008, Kylie has been selected as a lead trainer for international workshops in Krakow (2013), Atlanta (2014) and Melbourne (2015).
Kylie completed a PhD in the Department of General Practice at the University of Melbourne in 2021. Her research focuses on the potential of motivational interviewing in working with people living with mental-physical multimorbidity.
Kylie holds a BA(Hons), MPsych (Clinical), and a PhD.
Consistent with the practice of motivational interviewing, Kylie's approach to training is flexible, and focused on the needs and priorities of the training cohort. Kylie provides structured interactive experiences in training workshops, so that participants get the opportunity to practise skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Kylie has developed a range of resources, designed to help both new and more experienced learners to implement and maintain the skills they learn in training in their clinical practice.
